TUMI Satellite Summit

Every 12 to 18 months TUMI National hosts a Site Coordinator Training and Networking event we call our Satellite Summit which in order to provide on-going training and encouragement for all our satellites.  This is held in Wichita, Kansas.   Attendance at this event is required for the Satellite Coordinator, but we also welcome others who might be involved with the leadership of your Institute, such as board members, mentors, professors, and administrative personnel. Check out our previous Summits and find out when our next Summit is scheduled.

Under certain circumstances, TUMI National does allow students to transfer credits for previous work done from other training institutions, up to and no more than eight (8) credits for the Certificate program, and up to an additional (6) for the Diploma program, totaling fourteen (14).

Note: the Certificate for completing the Capstone Curriculum (Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies) must be completed in toto in order to qualify for the TUMI/Tabor Associate of Arts Degree in Urban Ministry. Transfer credits may apply to the CLS Certificate, but not completing Capstone in its entirety will effect qualification for the AA program.

Here are the steps that we follow to process student requests for transfer of credit:

  • Submit the student’s current TUMI transcript to Rev. Don Allsman along with a formal request from your satellite. Note: only Site Coordinators can submit requests to National for consideration of credit transfers.
  • Ask your student to request that a sealed transcript from their training institution be sent to:
    Don Allsman
    TUMI National Satellite Director
    2001 S. Vermont
    Los Angeles, CA 90007
  • Once we have received both the TUMI transcript (if one exists) and the student’s official transcript (sealed by the institution), we will review both records and make a determination of possible transfer of credits, and how many, if any, will be accepted. We will notify the Site Coordinator the number of credits that have been accepted, along with what department area they will be drawn from (i.e., Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, or Urban Mission).
  • Once you receive notification of transfer of credits, the Site Coordinator should contact the student to inform them of how many credits are eligible for transfer, and what areas they will be applied to. (If the student elects to apply the transfer, Site Coordinators should immediately make note of the transfer on the revised TUMI transcript to avoid confusion regarding the transfer in the future).

On January 15th, May 15th, and September 15th, you must submit a brief report using our standard report format at tumi.org called “Site Report Form”. Please put this on your calendar so you submit this report on time. The form will ask you for the following:

  • Some basic data about your current ministry (how many students are taking courses, what are you teaching, etc.)
  • A 1-2 paragraphs testimony about how a student is being trained or transformed, or a story about progress at your Institute that we can use for publication.
  • An electronic photograph from either a class in progress, a group photo of students, or a photo of an individual student. Please make sure you have permission to take photos for our public use before sending them to me. Photos of students doing ministry or studying are better than “posed” shots.
  • We offer you the option of sending in your student transcripts with this report in case you want to safely back up your files at our server in Wichita, Kansas. Instructions can be found at the Site Report Form.
  • Here is short video that will briefly explain and demonstrate what we are looking for in your Site Report Form.

The official textbook list will always be posted in our TUMI store. The required textbooks are associated with the Module in the store. The books listed in the Mentor’s Guide may not be the same as the official book list, so please consult the website before ordering. (Please note, you must be logged in to the store in order to see the required textbooks.)

The reading assignments for each of the required textbooks can be found in the gateway for both the English and Spanish required textbooks.
